Burt Reynolds was born in 1936 in Michigan, he grew up in Florida, and in childhood and adolescence he never dreamed of acting. He was attracted by sports, and at university he played in American football, he was the captain of the team and was going to become a professional. But an automobile accident changed everything- because of a knee injury he could not play anymore, and without sport he saw no sense in high education. So, in the mid-fifties, Reynolds left the university and went to college to become a policeman like his father.
However, this dream was not destined to come true too. The English teacher invited him to a theater group - and Reynolds liked it a lot, although at first he doubted his talent. In 1957 he received a Drama Award from the state, then he found an agent who helped him to get a role in the theater in New York and to make his debut on Broadway.
