Charlotte Elizabeth Diana, who is more commonly known as Princess Charlotte, is a member of the British Royal family born to William and Catherine, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge. The Princess who was born on May 2, 2015, is the second child to the Royal couple of Cambridge and the fourth in line of succession to the British throne. The Princess had her two middle names chosen in honor of her great-grandmother Queen Elizabeth II and paternal grandmother Diana, Princess of Wales. She also has her parents' cousins, The Honorable Laura Pittman and Adam Middleton, and family friends, Thomas van Straubenzee, James Meade, and Sophie Carter as Godparents. In March 2015, the Succession to the Crown Act was officially put into place. The act ended male primogeniture, making it possible for royal baby girls to uphold their position in the succession line, regardless of any brothers born after them. So when her little brother, Prince Louis, was born, Charlotte made the history books as the first female royal ever ,who was not pushed down the line of succession by her baby brother. Princess Charlotte retained her position as fourth in line of succession to the British throne even behind grandfather, Prince Charles, father, Prince William, and brother, Prince George.
