Sometimes in life, a second is all that it takes to miss an opportunity or to let a chance to do something great slide. Some other times in life, all that is needed to achieve a great feat is just the taking of opportunities as they present themselves. Impressively, those things that historical and legendary men and women have done which in turn became their source of fame and popularity were rejected or jettisoned by some others who stumbled at the opportunity to make a mark first.
In Hollywood also, the trend is not very much different. The assigning of roles to some actors have been orchestrated by the hand of fate and luck as sometimes; they were not the intended role players. Some have also missed out on playing notable roles in movies just because of their hesitance, some others have been lucky to star in roles they figured to give a trial. Some of our favorite stars played various roles that almost featured someone else in their place. Luckily for them, their win was just a near miss, now they are remembered for such roles; here is a list of 24 of such stars.
1. TIFFANI THIESSEN: RACHEL GREEN, FRIENDS
‘Saved by the Bell’ would not have been the only major hit movie of Tiffani Thiessen had she been born a few years earlier than 1974. The 44-year-old revealed she auditioned for the part of Rachel Green on ‘Friends’ but was not given the role because she was ‘a little too young.’ The then 25-year-old Aniston who was the youngest cast on Friends played the role.
2. HENRY CAVILL: EDWARD CULLEN, TWILIGHT
Edward Cullen in Twilight would have had the face of Henry Cavill instead of that of Robert Pattinson had the delegation of roles been up to Stephenie Meyer, the author of the romance books that birthed Twilight.
Cavill when making an appearance on The Graham Norton Show explained;
‘I think the writer of the books, when the movie came around, I think I was her first choice. That’s the rumor I heard. And she wanted me to play the role, but it wasn’t up to her. And instead, a very talented actor played him instead.’
