Israel is very popular because of its religious history. Jerusalem to be exact is regarded as the birthplace of three major religions: Judaism, Christianity, and Islam. About three thousand years ago, Judaism made Jerusalem a holy city, the home of its first temple.

The Christian faith was later founded on the basis of Jesus' teachings and miracles. Jesus’ history mentions the (second) temple (the first was destroyed by the Babylonians).

Later, the Muslims claimed Temple Mount is the direction Muhammad prayed towards, as well as where he ascended to heaven in his dreams. This Temple Mount is located at the same spot the original temples were located. This is the reason why there is now the Islamic shrine known as the Dome of the Rock - the area of contention in the Israeli-Palestinian dispute.
