The ‘90s were the rage; it was that period where everything changed, and a lot of things began to happen. Those that lived in those days would say that they are nostalgic about what they would call ‘the good old days’.
It was also an era that was described as being the digital stone age, even though technology was becoming a huge part of live at the time. What they had as Internet back then was dial-up, with cell phones that were attached to bulky careers in cars.
Google which many view as a blessing today, was seen as a search engine used by weird people and the cool kids were the ones in computer labs going on Yahoo! and Netscape.
Entertainment was a booming business, and Hollywood was breaking records and setting new ones. Movies, music, and television shows were breaking through social barriers put by language, sexuality, and race; with boundaries being altered.
Rap music was on the rise, with everyone listening to the likes of Tupac and Notorious BIG. Fashion trends were being set with combat boots, bleached hair, Discman headphones around the neck, loop earrings on men, and unbuttoned shirts over tees setting the trend.
In the midst of all these, new stars were being born in Hollywood and were beginning to make a name for themselves. In honor of this great decade, here are some ‘90s pics of some of the celebs you love that you’ve never seen.
1. Julia Roberts Attending The Premiere Of Bob Roberts (1992)
Actress, Julia Roberts, was one of the greatest stars of the ‘90s, and she has remained relevant in Hollywood till this day. Julia’s career was in the rise, and she couldn’t be happier.
Julia rose to fame in the ‘90s after starring in Pretty Woman alongside Richard Gere, who was her love interest and the Prince of her fairy tale. Life was good for the beautiful redhead, and by 1992, she had another film out, Bob Roberts.
Julia wore this beautiful red suit to the premiere of Bob Roberts, and for a ‘90s fashion, we have to say that she looks stunning, even though she looks like she belonged more in the Elizabethan period than the ‘90s.
2. Drew Barrymore And Sara Gilbert Attending The ‘Poison Ivy' Premiere (1992)
To be young, beautiful, successful, and living in the ‘90s was certainly a reality for some, even though for others, it was just a dream. This was the case for Drew Barrymore and Sara Gilbert.
Drew and Sara were co-stars in the 1992 movie, Poison Ivy. While we can’t tell you if these two were besties at the time, or if they arrived together, we can tell you (and if you’ve seen the movie, better) that these two shared a steamy kiss in the movie.
The kiss was a bold move for an era where a lot of people were homophobic, but it was one of the times that Hollywood dared to brave the sexual barrier. Drew and Sara went on to Star in other movies together, like the 2001 movie Riding In Cars, and the movie Boys.
3. Leonardo DiCaprio And Johnny Depp Attending The Premiere Of What’s Eating Gilbert Grape? (1993)
Don’t be deceived by this photo and the smiles; if you’ve followed the careers of Leonardo DiCaprio and Johnny Depp, then you already know that these two are not friends, just colleagues.
However, back in 1993, Leonardo and Johnny filmed the movie What’s Eating Gilbert Grape? together. Johnny mentioned while being interviewed at the premiere that he usually torture his 19-year-old co-stars, Leonardo, who used to look up to him then. This was before Leonardo starred in the movie that cemented his place in Hollywood, The Titanic.

Before she got more popular for playing the lead role in Legally Blonde, Reese Witherspoon was a ‘90s girl living the Hollywood dream. The Oscar winner in 1996 was photographed in this get up while attending the premiere if the movie Romeo + Juliet.
Although Reese was considered for the role back then, she didn’t get it as it went to Claire Danes. Reese has come a long way from the girl in this picture, and her fashion has improved with the 21st century.
5. Prince Charles Pictured With The Spice Girls In Manchester (1997)
The English girl band group Spice Girls were the rage in the ‘90s. The group which was formed in 1994 was made up of five young ladies namely: Victoria Beckham, Mel B, Melanie C, Geri Halliwell, and Emma Bunton.
Prince Charles of the British Monarchy, met the Spice Girls at Manchester Opera House, during a Royal gala performance to celebrate the 21st anniversary of Prince Charles Trust.
The group has since disbanded, with each if them pursuing other goals, but in 2018, they announced a reunion tour for 2019, but Fashion Icon, Victoria Beckham, will not be joining them.
6. Angelina Jolie Attending The Premiere Of Gia (1998)
Seeing the smile, on Angelina Jolie’s face in this photo, we are sure she never knew that 20 years later, she would be married to Brad Pitt, be separated from him, and going through a messy divorce. If only she could go back to the ‘90s.
Back then in 1998, Jolie dressed in all black to attend the premiere of her movie, Gia. At the time, this was a big film for Jolie, which explains her big smile. She was praised for her performance in the film and received a Golden Globes Award for it. Jolie also got an Emmy nomination and a Screen Actors Guild Awards nomination.
7. Mariah Carey Attending Blockbuster Entertainment Awards (1997)
In the ‘90s, Mariah Carey was young, beautiful, and talented with her music making waves and topping the charts. Mariah was one of the biggest singers that the ‘90s produced, and she was gorgeous too.

Cameroon and Matt broke up shortly after they had finished filming the movie, There’s Something About Mary. This photo of the two of them together was taken in ’98, at the premiere of Dillon’s film, Wild Things.

Back in the ‘90s, ’98 to be precise, Justin Timberlake was not yet a record-breaking, chart-topping, award-winning artist. He was a guy in a green polo, wearing ear loops, and attending the NSYNC benefit concert, which was a part of their second tour.
NSYNC group tour is now known as Second II None Tour. The group was just beginning to gain popularity in North America, and Justin’s life and music were not yet known to the world.
10. Gwen Stefani And Courtney Love Attending The MIA/Universal Grammy Bash (1998)
One thing that has remained unclear since this picture was taken is whether or not singers, Gwen Stefani, and Courtney Love, were ever friends, although this picture of them together was taken in 1988 at the MIA/Universal Grammy Bash.
What we do know though, is that there seems to be bad blood between these two artists. Courtney once said that she was with Gavin Rossdale before he got together with Gwen. Courtney further claims that he only got together with the No Doubt Singer, because she dumped him to be with Edward Norton.
Whether this is true or not, Gwen and Gavin got married down the line, but divorced years after, and she’s now with Country Singer, Blake Shelton, whom Courtney can’t call dibs on.
11. Gwyneth Paltrow And Kate Moss Attending The New York Calvin Klein Show (1998)
In case you don’t know when Gwyneth Paltrow and Kate Moss, BFF friendship started, worry no more, as you can trace it at least to the ‘90s. These two have been friends since then, and are still going strong.
This picture of them together was taken in ’98 while they were both attending the New York Calvin Klein show. Gwyneth and Kate look super chummy in the photo, and quite young too. Although this was taken a little bit over 20 years ago, we can tell you that Gwyneth still looks the same, thanks to having great genes.
12. Britney Spears Attending The American Music Awards (1999)
We know the gown Britney Spears was wearing in this photo was most likely a big deal in the ‘90s, but we are grateful for how far fashion has come in the 21st century.
A young Britney wore this to the American Music Awards back in 1999. She was 17-year-old at the time, and with her natural brown locks, she looks very different from the Britney we know today. Britney’s career was just beginning to take off at this time after her single Nay One More Time became a hit.
