Colin Kaepernick gives back to the community
On his 32nd birthday, Colin Kaepernick 2019 was feeling charitable. He decided to spend his day in Oakland, California feeding the poor. He went to Tent City, a large homeless encampment and brought a food truck to provide for those who needed a meal.
The move was in partnership with his foundation known as Know Your Rights Camp. He also distributed other basic resources to the needy people. Alongside his beau, Colin was able to share backpacks full of quality air masks, socks, and other daily usage products.
The kids at Tent City were taught about their rights and social injustices. He was among the main tutors during the camp.
Just the beginning
The football star echoed that the event in Oakland was just the beginning of a course he plans to undertake on a more regular basis. He told the Washington Post that he plans to bring community leaders together.
“We want to do all over the country, in cities all over this country, by bringing together local leaders, local activists, and local youth, and not only giving them the skills and lessons, they need, but we want to show them how much we love and value them,” he said.

Uncertainty about NFL
While it is not clear whether Colin will feature in the NFL games again, he is definitely playing his role in the community. Ever since 2016, Kaepernick has not featured in the NFL despite being a resourceful quarterback. His foundation, the Know Your Rights Camp has continued to advocate for change in society.
Colin and history books
Kaepernick's birthday was observed by many as it reminded people how he made his way to the history books by protesting against systematic injustices towards minorities by law enforcement agents. This was in the wake of numerous shooting of unarmed African American men.
He knelt down while the national anthem played in protest, in one of the most controversial moments in the NFL. He joined the list of famous athletes who staged demonstrations on a match day. Others on the list are Muhammed Ali, Jon Carlos, among others.
A 49ers consultant named Edwards shipped Kaepernick’s entire game attire of that evening to Smithsonian's African-American Museum of History and Culture.
