The young athlete's coach from Saginaw High School, where he first started playing, recalled him as an incredibly talented, hard-working, and committed footballer. In the early 2000s, he was considered to be one of the most valuable high school players.
After he graduated from high school, he joined Michigan State University, where he played in a local team during his sophomore and junior years. He broke the Michigan record of touchdown receptions. The biggest Charles Rogers 2003 achievement was being named the most talented receiver in that year's NFL draft. He was chosen by Detroit Lions and became the second pick overall.
His career thrived for a few years before things went downhill. The talented youngster got a few serious injuries that prevented him from realising his full potential. These included two collarbone injuries.
Due to the injuries, he began using painkillers frequently. He was also addicted to marijuana for a long time. His career ended after three seasons only.
Even though Charles Rogers started out as an extremely talented receiver who had a natural talent and ability to work hard, his career ended quite sadly due to injuries and addiction. Today he is often ranked as one of the most disappointing players in NFL history.
