Famous names like Steve Jobs, Michael Jordan, and Oprah Winfrey are not usually associated with failure. But before these successful personalities made it big in their separate industries, they first failed, were fired, or heard the word "no" many times. But they never gave up.
1. Oprah Winfrey
When she was 22, Oprah was fired from her job as a TV reporter because she was "unfit for tv." She was stopped from her role as co-anchor of the 6 o'clock weekday news on Baltimore's WJZ-TV after the show got low ratings. Oprah has called it the "first and worst failure of her TV career."
The now-TV mogul was then demoted to morning TV, where she discovered her voice and met Gayle King, who would one day become her editor and producer of O, The Oprah Magazine.
7 years later, Winfrey relocated to Chicago, where her self-titled talk show went on to rule daytime TV for 25 years, and eventually head her own channel, own.
