Most people would rather hop on an airplane and get to their destination in a few hours, than waste days traveling by car. But personally, road tripping is my preferred form of travel because it is adventurous.
In fact, road trips were the original travel method for everyone before flying became popular; nonetheless, road still remains a fun way to travel. See why you should take a road trip.
1. Flying is overrated
Flight tickets cost a fortune nowadays. Airports are a hassle to go through. While flying may be faster, it is not the best form of travel if you want to experience the world. Driving enables you to immerse yourself in the journey and see new places up close.
2. There are new towns to discover
Taking small roads rather than highways allows you to pass through the historic and quaint little towns that many don't know about. Each one has its own unique lifestyle and attractions that densely populated places lack.
3. There are unique foods to taste
Fast food is fine but there are a lot of delicious cuisines in different cities to try. Road-tripping long distances enable you to expand your palette. One cannot simply pass through many states and not try the foods that make them famous.
4. Nature is a gift
There's nothing more beautiful than nature itself. For those living in urban areas, try to leave the city limits and surround yourself in greenery every once in a while. The Earth is a fascinating place and road trips highlight that. The feeling of driving down a dirt road with luscious trees hanging overhead is one of a kind.
5. It encourages you to be spontaneous
Driving gives you total control on when you leave, when you get there, and how long the journey will take. When time is not pressuring you, you're more likely to try new things like wandering off of the beaten path. Some of the most amazing experiences in road trips are when they are spur of the moment decisions.
6. Road trip games are the best games
Be it the license plate game or I spy, nothing beats the fun of a road trip game. They help you to really look around and interact with your travel partners. They are also a good way to keep the kids entertained if they ever look bored.
7. It expands your taste in music
Long road trips call for mixes that entertain. When different people are the DJ, many genres are covered.
8. Road travels create memories that will last a lifetime
Road trips are full of adventure and discovery. They have their good and their bad moments but they always have memories worth remembering.
