Celebrating its 11th anniversary this year, San Francisco’s Outside Lands Music and Arts Festival (August 10-12) is sure to be packed with more awesome acts, food, wine, beer, art, and comedy than ever before. The inaugural festival in 2008 set the pattern, as 60,000 eager people gathered to see Radiohead perform the first-ever live rock display in Golden Gate Park after 7pm.
Since then, organizers have been seeking ways to outdo themselves and you know they are gonna turn up for this milestone. You surely want to be one of the anticipated 210,000 concert-goers, and we definitely want you to be prepared. Read on for your all-inclusive festival guide.
1. General Info
- The ticket lowdown
Tickets to Outside Lands are not sold out (yet), but it'll cost you a pretty penny if you want to attend all 3 days -- $375 to be exact. Single-day tickets are also available and cost $149.50/day. The 3-Day VIP ticket is $795. Single-day VIP ticket is $345.
Like most festivals nowadays, you get one wristband for the whole weekend and it cannot be removed once it is on. Wristbands that have been tampered with will be void and if you try to enter, you will be denied, and that would seriously stink.
- What to bring
If you want to get in as fast as possible, put all of your stuff in one of those cool clear backpacks. Whoever comes with a backpack or purse will be subject to a delayed entrance and longer lines, implying you could miss your favorite band.
As for what can go into that bag, bring an empty water bottle, binoculars, a blanket, and sunscreen. But leave your booze, professional camera equipment, skateboard, tents, spray paint, and dog at home.
And though it'll pain many a Silicon Valley resident, both drones AND selfie sticks are strictly forbidden.
