For one to say that many fans made it to Golden Gate Park last year will be an understatement. They flooded there! All roads and highways led to this Park for the 10th anniversary of Outside Lands Music and Arts Festival which was to happen from 11th to 13th of Aug. Almost a hundred acts were staged, with Electric Guest, the Lemon Twig and Kali Uchis performing for their first time. Other groups such as Metallica and the Who were among the old groups in the list that also performed. Foods and drinks were in plenty, Bay Area dominating this sector. Here is a more detailed look into the awesome weekend that happened this same month last year.
1. Solange’s incredible performance
The anniversary was opened by the famous Who before Solange literally dominated the Sutro stage on Sunday night. How she managed to command attention is quite charming. Her set, which was barely one hour long sent the audiences waving and dancing with her.
Racial and gender equality formed the theme of her performance. She did not waste any opportunity she got to address these issues and to confess the hard times the state had been going through. She encouraged the most discriminated members of the society to be encouraged and to try to surround themselves with people who recognize and appreciate them. She acknowledged the LGBTQ, the black, and the Muslims. Her performance went on until the very end of the festival. Surprisingly, she managed to maintain the same energy from the start to the end.
