Alex Jones: Why Tech Companies Are Erasing His Contents

1. Apple, Facebook, and YouTube Remove Content From Alex Jones and Infowars

Top technology companies deleted most of the posts and videos on their services from Alex Jones, the internet’s notorious conspiracy theorist, thrusting themselves into a fraught debate over their role in regulating what can be said online.

Apple, Google, Facebook, and Spotify critically restricted the reach of Mr. Jones and Infowars, his right-wing site that has been a principal peddler of false information online. Mr. Jones and Infowars have used social media for many years to spread bizarre and dark theories. Apple made its move on Sunday and the others followed on Monday.

2. Alex Jones wanted to be a media personality from a young age

Alex started his career as a media personality at the age of 20 when he began a public access show in Austin, Texas. In an iconic 1997 clip, a 23-year-old Jones warns listeners of the Austin police department’s black helicopters that can scan your home with infrared lasers as he aggressively carves a pumpkin next to a fake severed head.
